From Germany to Spain, and in partnership with the Arab-Spanish Cultural Forum (CIHAR), the International Network for the Study of Arab Societies “Social Changes Unit” held the virtual dialogue symposium entitled “Encountering Civilizations and Pathways to Renouncing Racism and Violence” on July 7, 2022, with the participation of a group of Arab and foreign researchers. .
The symposium aimed to discuss hate speech that has worsened in contemporary times. The symposium also focused on the basic problem associated with the promotion of racism, which is the West’s relationship with the East resulting from a misunderstanding of knowledge and a lack of knowledge of the other’s cultures and knowledge, the language of recognizing the other, accepting pluralism and diversity, and adopting the discourse of citizenship instead of the sectarian and sectarian discourse. The symposium concluded with the necessity of enabling Arab peoples to live together and accept differences and contradictions, which can only be achieved through knowledge, insight, interaction, discussion, dialogue, and exchange of knowledge.
