Within the framework of approaching the issues of transformation that are afflicting Arab societies from various Arab intellectual angles, the International Network for the Study of Arab Societies organized the Social Changes Unit, in partnership with the Arab Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ALECSO), the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Algeria and Tunisia Office, and with the broad participation of ENAS scientific and research institutions from countries. Various Arab and international groups and an elite group of researchers in the field of humanities and social sciences over a period of 5 days from 12-16 August 2023 in Tunisia, under the title “Issues of transformation in current Arab societies.” The university witnessed 13 scientific sessions that included scientific institutions and the Arab scientific community from within Arab countries and abroad: From Tunisia, Lebanon, Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, Morocco, Syria, Iraq, Italy, Germany, and Turkey. The scientific sessions addressed multiple issues that affected the issues of transformation of Arab societies, distributed over 15 axes in various scientific fields, most notably transformation in the digital, communication and societal fields, issues of violence and extremism, transformation in the field of religious discourse, transformation in the economic, cultural and security fields in addition to issues of transformation in the field of childhood and women. and vulnerable groups. Transformation in the field of anthropological studies. The transformation in the field of developing legal and legislative texts, as well as transformations in the field of climate and environment. The topic of transformations in the field of youth and migration also occupied a special importance within the university’s summer sessions. The university witnessed a distinguished presence of professors, students, and the media, and was characterized by interactions with the activities of this university and important discussions between the scientific community and the students and professors present. It concluded with a networking workshop for the scientific institutions present at the university, with the aim of networking and future cooperation, and providing them with opportunities to learn about the goals of each scientific institution, its fields of work, and its scientific specializations, to research the possibility of establishing joint research alliances among them in the future. This is a tradition adopted by the international network in its various activities, conferences and forums in order to achieve its founding goals, which revolve around networking between scientific institutions and promoting circulation and joint research. Together, they concluded with a number of recommendations, the most prominent of which was the need to raise awareness of the dangers and threats of cyberspace in light of the speed of digital transformations and their continuous development, as it is an Arab national security issue. Activating institutional mechanisms to build coexistence between cultures to confront hate speech within Arab societies and consolidate the values of coexistence, tolerance and dialogue among the youth and emerging groups according to systematic programs and educational methods. And promoting moderate religious discourse that is open to others. The attendees stressed the need to conduct in-depth studies on the issue of migration and allocate an annual international scientific forum to address this phenomenon and its repercussions. The network members and partners stressed the necessity of opening channels of communication, cooperation and networking between research centers and Arab universities, especially in the field of scientific research and common issues, and disseminating the idea of the summer university internationally and regionally to achieve openness and knowledge and cultural exchange.
